Life begins the moment you step out of the world because everyone has their own goals and purposes. However, people often forget that life is also related to survival and only the fittest will survive.
Now, listen, graduates. Adulthood is starting
and like any other graduate, they will start googling vacancies and table out
their plans.
Let me throw you a million-dollar question, are
you willing to take that extra mile in securing the job? Because this will
determine whether it can be either you or stranger sitting beside you during
the interview session.
Here are some advice and tips which might come
handy in getting your dream job.
It may sound simple, as easy as ABC but it
depends on the individual to act upon it and grab those opportunity.
Like any of normal recruitment, a good resume is
crucial to land that job. But what exactly is the interviewer or HR wants to
see on these 3 sheets of paper? Simple, ACHIEVEMENT!
This is the ingredient to write a successful
resume. However, please ensure the contents reflect the position that you are
applying. Thus, spend some time and effort to make sure you have a good set of
resumes specifically for each job or company you are applying for.
Well, you think you already have all the
technical knowledge in your fingertips but there is more to it. With additional
knowledge about the company you are applying for, this will definitely help you
to have more interesting conversation with the interviewer. Thus, making less
like an investigation session and more to nice chat describing about yourself.
You are gonna sorting out your thought. Like playing chess, you need to strategize your move. The moment you freak out, most probably you gonna lose it. Take a deep breath and just be yourself. Do several mock interview sessions among your friends. Try to brainstorm on your top accomplishments and put yourself in the interviewer’s shoes on why they must hire you for the job.
Like an excellent salesperson, they always get
the customer to buy their product in the snap of their finger. Same analogy
goes for an interview, you are ‘the product’. You must offer your set
of skill and knowledge to convince them that they should ‘buy you’. Nothing beat the best than passionately share a good narrative
story about yourself in adding value to the company. You can definitely 'strike
a deal' by applying a common technique called STAR (Situation, Task, Action,
Result).
Simply put, we have always felt life is like a
competition no matter how we want to stay away from it. But like Charles
Darwin*, once said
“It is not the strongest surviving species, or the smartest, but the most responsive to change”
And your responsive actions will help
differentiate you from other candidates.
All the best!
*Charles Darwin is an English naturalist,
geologist and biologist, best known for his contributions to the science of
evolution.
